The decision-making maturity of an organization is a multifaceted question. Hence, a cautious and balanced approach is advised. Plenty of maturity models are available. They all fall into the same trap by saying that the dimensions on which organizations are scored e.g. culture, infrastructure, organizational complexity, ought to make synchronous progress in order to make sustainable progress. Synchronous evolution however is an illusion and not really needed or relevant. Some domains can have a higher maturity than others, this is even commonly observed.

Pinpointing the leader of the pack and recognizing a blend of different maturities on different domains of improvement, facilitates progress in a realistic manner with optimal payback. Identifying the leader of the pack is a wonderful start for the compilation of a realistic roadmap to higher and sustainable maturities.
